About Us

Agricultural Travel Bureau Ltd (ATB), established in 1958 and wholly owned by its working directors has become the UK’s leading authority and specialist in the organisation of both incoming and outgoing tours, mainly centred around the farming and agricultural industry. Our experience and knowledge has been a tremendous asset in working with UK farmers, Agricultural Colleges, Event Organisers, NFU groups and the majority of the UK’s cattle societies in preparing tours and co-ordinating conferences and events. As a group which includes Barfield Business Travel, Barfield Travel & Tours and Barfield Travel we are enjoying steady, profitable growth. The company maintains this position because of its sound financial base, the quality and dedication of its staff and their wealth of knowledge and vast number of contacts. Our management team is energetic, focused and customer service driven.

We have worked closely with the RASC (Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth) for many years, assisting them in the organisation of their conferences, travel requirements and ground arrangements. Recently, we co-ordinated the World Guernsey Cattle Conference, International Limousin Congress and South Devon World Congress, British Grassland Congress and are currently working with the Simmental & Charolais Cattle Societies on their future Congress'.

Our company has been closely associated with the RASE (Royal Agricultural Society of England) and organising accommodation for visitors and exhibitors attending the Royal Show for over 20 years. This also involves organising pre and post tours for overseas groups who attend the show, transfers from UK airports, sightseeing trips and visits. As cost is always an issue our staff are well aware of the restraints of working within a tight budget and making it affordable for visitors. We also arrange complete packages for the major farming and agricultural shows within Europe and throughout the world.

We were appointed as the preferred agent for the Royal Smithfield Show for 2002 and 2004 and now for the annual Royal Smithfield Christmas Fair. Our remit was to provide packages for overseas visitors, UK visitors and exhibitors and increase the overall number of visitors to the show. We have also provided this travel service for British Potato, LAMMA, Dairy Event and Burghley Horse Trials as well as several overseas shows including; Agritechnica, Sommet de l'Elevage, Space, Eurotier & World Potato.

Why is Agricultural Travel Bureau different?

We strive to make sure that the information given is as honest and objective as we can make it. We provide a travel service for many events now and to ensure the success and smooth running of all arrangements, we personally visit ALL hotels and make sure they are suitable for our guests. Many of these hotels we also use for our group tours.

Our impartial advice is different: "Give us a ring - we will personally try to answer any question you may have about any tour or event.

Our staff are different: We are very proud of our staff. Our post event and tour questionnaires prove that our clients also have a tremendously high opinion of them too. Unlike some other tour operators we do not employ hard-bitten professional sales people. Our staff are renowned for their efficiency, honesty and friendliness. Our staff will give impartial advice on any aspect of the tour or event and offer any extra assistance if needed.
